WEEK 12: the un-break

I’ve been taking an unexpected break. I was kind of embarrassed but then I realized it’s better to overcome those silly feelings and pick things back up instead of leaving things unfinished. So here is a pattern I’ve been working on for a class.

Week 12

WEEK 11-ish: the revisit

I’ve been taking a few weeks break to relax and shtuff (yes, shtuff). But after taking a much needed vacation to Texas, I am now back in Chicago and back to work. I ran across the beginning drafts of a project from school and thought I would revisit it today. It is a quote from one of my favorite books, Blue Like Jazz, by Donald Miller. I believe it to be one of the truest statements. I hope it ends up on a magnet on refrigerators everywhere. Enjoy frens! (yes, frens).

WEEK 11

WEEK 10: the jackpot

These little slot machine icons have been in my life a lot recently. First, I started making some for a project at work (which I turned into the pattern below). Second, I went to a concert last night (Jaga Jazzist <— AWESOME!!) and all of their merch and stage decorations involved them. Third, I heard story this morning on a podcast where a woman with a gambling problem described how friendly and inviting the shapes were the first time she ever gambled, and how good they made her feel. Stranger things have happened I’m sure, like that guy that had that disease that made his skin that look and feel like tree bark. Or maybe it has to do with luck.

week 10

WEEK 9: the solstice

So many eventful things happening right now. I am trying to slow down to make sure I enjoy them now. Happy Father’s Day Dad! Happy Birthday Frances! Happy Solstice Sun!

WEEK 8: the heat wave

It’s FINALLY feeling like it is summer in Chicago. The only problem is I’m working all the time so I don’t get to enjoy everything summer in the city has to offer. I am still 99.99657% less stressed than I was during school and I do have a lot of free time so I really can’t complain. Bring on the vitamin D!

week 08

WEEK 7: the push

I have been feeling physically and creatively drained lately. Somehow though, I have been finding energy to not stop moving forward.

WEEK 5/6: the zombie

Finals. Enough said. Will resume next week!

Take a break, seriously.

WEEK 4: the debt

Happy Easter friends!

Week 4

WEEK 3: the screwup

I am working on the logo for my roommate’s band. This is one of the rejected concepts but I liked the original sketch and it was so much fun to make that I decided to spend (way too much) time developing it further. Lalala swirlz.

Now I guess I better start working on the actual logo.
